Mud House Waipara Riesling 2010
Our winemaking is a simple affair...we want the fruit flavours to shine, not the winemaking. After picking in the cool of the night and gently pressing, the individual parcels are fermented at warm temperatures with specially selected yeast strains. When the balance of the wine is just right, the tank is chilled and remains on light yeast lees for 3 months. The tank is then racked and blended and fined using natural methods before bottling.
Bright fresh nose of elderflower, fresh citrus with a background of nectarine.
This wine shows lovely purity on the palate. The citrus and floral notes mix with fresh green apple. The slightly sweet approach gives way to a lovely crisp acidity.

SUGGESTED FOOD MATCH
Smoked Salmon pasta with cream and dill.
This single vineyard wine is solely sourced from the Mud House Mound Vineyard in the Waipara Valley. The gravely soils and Waipara’s dry north west wind creates the perfect spot for growing Riesling.
The Waipara growing season began with cool but stable weather through flowering. A wet and cool summer gave way to beautiful, consistent warm weather from late February onwards. This extended ripening period has resulted in wines of superior quality, concentration and length.
